How does VAT work on Cellbase orders?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Cellbase operates as an international B2B marketplace connecting buyers and suppliers globally. Most transactions involve cross-border shipping, meaning they're typically ex-VAT.

At checkout:

You pay the displayed price. The price shown is the final amount you pay.

After your order:

Suppliers are responsible for VAT and tax documentation. Each supplier will provide you with their official invoice, which includes any applicable VAT based on their location, your location, and relevant tax regulations.

The supplier uploads their invoice to your order, which you can download from your order confirmation email or account.

VAT invoices:

All tax documentation comes directly from the supplier as the seller of record. If you need specific VAT information or have questions about tax treatment:

  • Contact the supplier using the "Ask about this product" feature before ordering

  • Check with the supplier after ordering through your order messages

International transactions:

For cross-border orders, you may be responsible for:

  • Import duties in your country

  • Local VAT or taxes on imports

  • Customs clearance fees

These are separate from the product price and are handled by your country's customs authorities.

Cellbase's role:

Cellbase facilitates transactions between buyers and suppliers but does not:

  • Collect VAT on product sales

  • Issue VAT invoices

  • Determine tax treatment

Tax obligations remain with suppliers as the legal sellers.
